"Interdisciplinary skill is considered as a critical components for future workforce. Responding to the demand of interdisciplinary talent, the “Curriculum Guidelines of 12- Year Basic Education” has proposed the type of interdisciplinary and integrated curriculum to improve students’ ability in deep-thinking and problem solving from holistic perspectives. A review of current literature showed that there was limited research about cross-curricular design in Taiwan, especially for senior high school level. Thus, this paper focused on the issues of interdisciplinary and integrated curriculum for vocational senior high schools, including the concept, curriculum rationale, pattern, configuration, and practical principles for cross and integrated curriculum developing and teaching. The findings showed that there were different levels of interdisciplinary in terms of curriculum design. Teachers in vocational senior high schools could start from creating multidisciplinary curriculum, then moving towards multidisciplinary-integration, interdisciplinary-integration, or transdisciplinary- integration curriculum." |
