The Fourth Party: The Formation and Meaning of the Taiwan Tangwai People Campaign Support Group in 1978

本文探討1978年「台灣黨外人士助選團」的形成與意義。指出其「第四黨」觀點，正標誌著「台灣黨外人士助選團」是「黨外」勢力形成後的組織化嘗試，而組織化的目標就類似於建立一個新政黨。此組織化嘗試，往後雖因停辦選舉而未能檢驗其具體成效，但已奠定後來「美麗島政團」及《美麗島》雜誌的組織基礎。

This paper explores the formation and meaning of“Taiwan Tangwai People Campaign Support Group in 1978.”It points to the view that“The Fourth Party”, means that the group was the organizational attempt of the formation of Tangwai forces, and its purpose was to build a new political party. Finally, the group failed, when the election was cancel, but its actual achievement formed the organizational base for the“Formosa Political Group”and latter the Formosa Magazine.
