Shadowing is originally used as a training method of simultaneous interpretation. However, in recent years, the method has been proved to be effective in language t raining as well. Shadowing is not as simple as a parrot-style repetition. It is a cognitive behavior. This training method, with certain modification, could stimulate student's interest, and moreover, may also lead to a better acquisition result. A three-week experiment has been arranged for college juniors (3rd grade students). As a result, those who had shadowed the same text constantly everyday obviously attained a better achievement. |
