The main purpose of this research is to discuss the interrelationship between Shiga Naoya's work and Akutagawa Ryunosuke's. It is not a particular subject in the history of research for Shiga Naoya, due to the chapter called ”Shiga Naoya” once appeared in ”Liberal arts, excessively liberal arts” an article published by Akutagawa in ”Transformation”, April 1927. This article not only estimated Shiga's work highly, but also revealed the respect to Shiga of good character. Therefore, many research papers have considered it as a crucial indicator till now. It becomes a clue that Akutagawa cited Shiga's works, in other words, to discuss the similarity between Shiga's works and Akutagawa's, in order to prove the influence of Shiga on Aktagawa's works. This study show that there are many writing elements in Shiga's works published in Taisho era were directly or indirectly indicated in Aktagawa's works. Aktagawa, nevertheless, did not mention the above works at all thereafter. Is it possible that Aktagawa intended to ignore it? The methodology of this study is designed to interpret Shiga's and Aktagawa's articles, trying to analyze the analogous arrangement of characters' relation and similar writing styles. Through bilateral discussion on the ”Shiga” element in Aktagawa's articles and the ”Aktagawa” component in Shiga's writing, I expect to pinpoint the problems rooted in the essence of their works, and furthermore, to reposition their literature status in Taisho era. |
