Treaty of Shimonoseki was signed in 1895 after the Sino-Japanese War was through. Due to this Treaty, Taiwan became the first colony of Japan. Then, Ching Dynasty started sending numerous students to Japan for study. Since then, reversing from the status of being a civilization recipient, Japan had become the civilization provider to China. Among the provisions given to China, a vast amount of the Japanese-originated phrases was included. This article has selected the following medical operation terms as the discussion subject: ”(~)切開(術)lncision, ”(~)切除(術)Excision” and ”(~)切斷(術)Amputation”. The perspectives of both Chinese and Japanese morphology and the literature are taken to explain and verify that these words are of Japanese origination. We also take a review on how these words are used in Taiwan at the present time.It is our hope that this research will illuminate how the Chinese and Japanese medical terms have exchanged, and that the illumination goes beyond and extends to the whole pool of terms between the two languages. |
