This paper puts together the reports that focused on central auditory processing disorder (CAPD) and were presented at 2016 Audiology Academy Research Conference (ARC) or at 2017 ASHA convention. The content was grouped into the following three themes: (1) CAPD-related papers presented at the 2016 Audiology ARC, including animal models of neurodevelopment disruption and associated acoustic processing, auditory cortex plasticity following hearing loss, long-term non-traumatic noise exposure (a cause of CAPD), auditory and cognitive processing in older adults, and the effect of CAPD software. (2) World famous researcher Dr. Jack Katz shared his academic experience and helped the audience to learn the CAPD path in the past as well as at the present. (3) Dr. Gail Chermak and Dr. Frank Musiek proposed current issues in CAPD. It is hoped that by reading this paper, readers will have a broader perspective on the issues related to CAPD. |
