Starting from January 1, 2012, the policy of the integration of kindergartens and nursery schools was initiated in Taiwan. As this policy has been implemented for almost 10 years, this study attempted to investigate the overall quality of preschool teachers by conducting the analysis of big data from the academic year of 2012 to 2020. The results are as the followings: (1) Preschools' Expenditure accounted for 7-8% of the expenditures of schools at all levels; (2) The number of preschools hit a record low in the academic year of 2016; (3) The number of preschool directors hit a record low in the academic year of 2018, whereas preschool teachers, educare givers, and educare assistants reached a peak increase in the academic year of 2020; (4) Most in-service preschool teachers are aged 40-44 years; (5) The numbers of male teachers and male educare givers show an increasing trend; and (6) The number of preschool teachers with a Master's or Doctoral degree is increasing, with the largest increase occurred in the academic year of 2019. According to the research results and the current situation, this study proposed recommendations and served as a reference for future studies. |
