The Book of Changes is the fundamental of the Chinese classics. Many Chinese classics are derived from it. The purpose of this paper is to scrutinize the relation between "The Book of Changes" and the thoughts of Chinese traditional military science". The most famous books on Chinese military science are "The Seven Books of Chinese Military Classics" and "The Thirty-Six Stratagems" which are both deduced from "The Art of War by Sun Tzu". Interestingly, the thoughts of twenty-two stratagems among "The Thirty-Six Stratagems" are inspired from "The Book of Changes". This paper first describes the thoughts of western military science and then Chinese military science. At final, this paper describes the connection between "The Book of Changes" and Chinese military science by explaining the diagrams in sequence from "Sixty-Four Diagrams" and military tactics inferred from them. |
