Traditional transportation planning procedures include: Trip Generation, Trip Distribution, Modal Split, and Traffic Assignment. Due to advancement of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), Dynamic Traffic Assignment (DTA) models have been developed and incorporated within transportation planning procedures to bridge the gap between transportation planning and traffic operations. This research aims at establishing a conceptual framework for using DTA in transportation planning processes and illustrating possible advantages through empirical data. The Taoyuan county empirical data is applied in the experiment to discuss possible issues relating to the integration. |
