This study integrates the intercity mode choice models and the access mode models to explain the intercity passenger behavior from an origin to a transport system station. The empirical study was conducted for the Taipei-Tainan intercity transport. We surveyed the stated preference data for the respondents using HSR mode at several intercity transport stations in Tainan. The Nested Multinomial Logit Model (NMNL) with revealed preference data (RP) and stated preference data (SP)was applied to analyze the present research problem. The NMNL model traditionally calculates the inclusive value in the lower level as an explanatory variable to incorporate into the upper one. In this paper, we discuss several concepts to calculate different values as the access service explanatory variable. The empirical results showed that the access service attribute is the important explanation variable, which indicating the accessibility service could significantly affect the passengers preference on intercity mode choice. Based on the empirical study results, we provide some suggestions to intercity mode and HSR companies to consider the importance of access mode services. |
