Pre-trip information systems, as part of Advanced Traveler Information systems, have tremendous accomplishments and web-based traffic information systems have been developed around the world. Thus it is necessary to study the possible impact of pre-trip information systems on network traffic flows. ln this paper, the interaction between different types of information and vehicles are first discussed, followed by a detailed discussion ofpossible route control strategies. The notion ofthe logit based route choice model is used to make different route choice behavior assumptions. The simulation-assignment model, DYNASMART, “used to investigate different route choice behavior and traffic loading, based on a test network and a Taichung network. The results indicate that single optimal route choice model could provide better system performance than the other two. |
