FORMOSAT-8 program, inheriting the core design baseline from FORMOSAT-5, plans to develop a generic bus to serve as the common platform, with low cost and high performance, for all of the satellite missions in Taiwan in the future. Six remote sensing satellites (GSD: 1m/PAN and 2m/MS) in low earth orbit will be constructed to a constellation according to the program goal and they can achieve the sub-meter resolution through the post processing of ground imaging task. The deployment of a constellation of satellites can provide satellite images and dynamic monitoring information with high observation frequency and global coverage, which can be applied to the fields of homeland security, environmental monitoring, disaster prevention and survey. In addition, it can drive the domestic industry, education and research team to establish a space industry supply chain. |
