In the turbulent late Qing Dynasty, Huang Tsun-Hsien,who was a poet-diplomat went abroad and wrote a collection of poems. His poems include nation consciousness and realistic spirit,which expressed his adjustment process and reflected his inspirition in modern Japan. There were few publications of Japan with depth of thought before Huang Tsun-Hsien.He could not help but describe Japan by traditional geographical knowledge. The other side, he learned to revise mind and understanding after he lived in Japan.In addition, Huang Tsun-Hsien’s poems presented a view of worldwide which different from ancient China, this visual is full of modernity.There are plenty and complex discussions about modernity and innovation, pursuing change is the most indicative part. Huang Tsun-Hsien’s experiences in Japan include material and cultural space. He is a pioneer who pursues modernity in the late Qing Dynasty. |
