In pursuit of “rational” design thinking, Bauhaus (Bauhaus Universitaet Weimar) founded in 1919, guides a new direction for modern design and drives the world’s modern design movement to create the modern style of design. However, due to the differences in ethnic background and regional culture, while inheriting the spirit of Bauhaus, the local culture all over the world was also blended and created their own styles. This article started from the perspective of group psychological cognition, took the cover design of the first ten issues of Industrial Design, as the research target to find out the recognition of the similarities and differences between the publications of Industrial Design and Bauhaus, to further explore the continuation and blending of Bauhaus visual design in the cultural context of Taiwan after half a century of communication and development. This study used a triangle check that collected literature, semi-structured interviews and questionnaires. The research results show that Industrial Design has continued Bauhaus’s visual design language in the color application, graphics composition and layout design, while the font style is full of distinct characteristics of the times and region. Through the analysis, it is found that the subjects are more interested in visual design with strong color contrast, rich graphics composition, multiple design techniques and spatial representation. This study aims to explore the influence and spread of the Bauhaus movement in Taiwan’s visual design, hoping to contribute to the construction of Taiwan’s graphic design history and serve as a reference for the design field.
