This article aims to explore the challenges faced by elementary and middle school principals in developing the school-based curriculum and the school-decided curriculum with curriculum leadership and the corresponding wisdom for action to cope with the 108 curricula policy. This paper mainly analyzes the literature and the data that the researcher has collected in long term guidance and observation on the development of school-based featured curriculum in elementary and middle schools. The curriculum leadership wisdom for action that elementary and middle school principals can enrich is proposed as follows: First, promoting awareness and providing core concepts, handy tools, outstanding examples, and motivating factors; second, establishing directional visions, operational approaches, and school-based featured programs in a systematic way; third, strengthening clarification of goals, key actions, priorities, resource allocation, and consciousness of accountability; fourth, deeply cultivating school-based community and curriculum teaching programs, developing action strategies, skills and knowledge; fifth, implementing the three administrative steps of planning, execution and evaluation, contingent practice actions, continuous critical thinking, and facilitating coordinated sets of measures. |
