In addition to the commonly used direct lighting, attention is also paid to indirect lighting and various angles of light irradiation. Therefore, along with the lighting quality for horizontal work plane, it also pays attention to the visual perception of the vertical wall surface. This study took cornice lighting system as an experimental subject to analyze the visual psychological feelings for the brightness distribution and pattern of vertical wall. In a 1:1 full-scale space laboratory, the color temperature and the off-wall distance were controlled, and 15 variations of wall conditions of different lighting patterns were set up. This study reaches three conclusions. First, the brightness distribution formed by the difference in the color temperature and the off-wall distance between light source and the wall has a significant influence on the listed evaluation items. Second, viewers’ visual psychological feelings were affected by three aspects: atmosphere, light distribution and dramatic contrasts. Third, the brightness distribution recognition rate Rmm% can be a determinant of brightness distribution design on the wall.
