The incidence of stroke in young generation is increasing gradually. Stoke may lead to disability and significantly impact the quality of life. This paper described the nursing experience of an adolescent with stroke. The nursing period was from April 1, 2012 to May 23, 2012. The Gordon’s functional health assessment guide was used to assess nursing problem through observation, interview, listening, and physical examination. The nursing problems being identified included mobility impaired physical, social interaction impaired, and powerlessness. During the period of care, the author provided active and passive joint exercise to maintain physical function. Through empathy and establishment of therapeutic relationship, we provided active caring, companionship, and listening to motivate the patient to accept rehabilitation, to face frustration, and to learn self-care. This experience provided nurses with a reference for caring similar patients and improved quality care. |
