This project aims to increase the job satisfaction of nursing personnel with cross-unit support, as cross-unit support enables hospitals to fully and flexibly utilize its manpower yet may also affect the stability of hospital manpower if the work pressure exceeds the workload. As indicated by the investigation, the job satisfaction of our nursing personnel with cross-unit support was initially 33.0%, the results revealed that a clear standard for support within a unit, irregular time required for such support, nursing personnel’s fear for the unknown, nursing personnel not being able to feel the concern and support from their supervisors, nursing personnel’s insufficient knowledge of other departments, nursing personnel’s dissatisfaction with the support system, nursing personnel’s difficulty in having a good grasp of the condition of patients, supplies being placed differently in different units, as well as being unfamiliar with the norms and operation of apparatus at the supported unit were all reasons for low job satisfaction of nursing personnel. The solutions to the low job satisfaction included four measures: improving the unit’s current plans in relation to cross-unit support, designing appropriate accessory plans, establishing a caring team, and enhancing the non-professional knowledge of nursing personnel. After the implementation, satisfaction level reached 85.3%. It is anticipated that this project can be a reference for nursing units in the deployment of manpower. |
