In recent years, the drawing of concept maps has become one of the most important innovative teaching methods available to nursing education. Concept maps can be used in a wide variety of areas, they can be applied in various disciplines and are able to effectively enhance the students’ learning efficiency and improve clinical healthcare. The use of simple concept maps, combined with clinical teaching and relevant courses, is able to augment the students’ professional ability and literacy. Concept maps are a learning strategy tool that is used in problem-based learning and are an aid to learning logical reasoning and critical thinking as well as being able to improve problem-solving abilities. Through concept map identification, information can be recorded and integrated, which promotes individual thinking. This not only helps the learner to actively engage in the construction of new knowledge, but also helps the teacher to understand the learner’s learning process and effectiveness. Therefore, concept maps form an important teaching strategy that can form part of innovative nursing education. In this article, we describe how we studied examples of the application of concept maps and use the findings to provide the readers with a series of different viewpoints. Concept maps are able to introduce new values to traditional nursing education and as a result have the ability to transform nursing education by integrating innovative teaching and thinking. Furthermore, they can also be applied in clinical situations, education, and research. We hope that this article will contribute to the enhancement of the effectiveness of nursing teaching. |
