Patient safety is a global important health-care issue. An organizations patient safety culture will affect patient safety outcomes such as mortality, incident of adverse events (e.g. medication errors, falls, and pressure sores), prevalence of complications, and length of stay. Nursing leadership plays a central role in promoting patient safety. Transformational leadership is an important strategy by which nursing leaders can improve patient safety. This article explores nursing leaders’ adoption of a transformational leadership strategy to lead the organization’s personnel to participate in health care organizations to create a good patient safety culture, enhance patient safety care environment, and thereby, promote patient safety and enhance quality of care.
