It was a new experience for Taiwan indigenous children who entered primary indigenous educational institution in Japanese colonial period. The main objective of this study is to inquire the gymnastics of primary indigenous educational institution, and to observe one indigenous child how to operate ones body. In the same time, this study is also to understand individual indigenous child how to interpret the course and teaching of gymnastics between national institution of education and tribal tradition. Gymnastics is a teaching subject with modernity implicitly, and modernity contains the characteristic of individuality. This learning of gymnastics is to initiate individuals who have the opportunity to interpret their own bodies from individuality, thereby allowing the individual body out the restriction of the state and tribes possibly.
