http://www.gouthyperuricemia.com Purpose: In the last few decades, the incidence of kidney stone has obviously increased, of which uric acid nephrolithiasis took a large account. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to the researches of uric acid nephrolithiasis. Findings: So far, a large amount of studies about the pathophysiologic mechanisms have been elucidated. The risk factors leading to uric acid nephrolithiasis mainly include hyperuricosuria, low urine volume, and low urinary pH. Recently, it has been found out that lots of mutations of urate transportations and metabolic syndrome have been closely associated with uric acid nephrolithiasis. Genetic factors also play a role in the pathophysiology of uric acid nephrolithiasis. Conclusion: This article reviews recent insights into the epidemiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis and management of uric acid nephrolithiasis. We found out that uric acid nephrolithiasis is a sophisticated disease which is associated with metabolic disorders and hereditary factors. Therefore t it is important to do more research in order to clearly elucidate its mechanisms and influences to reach a better understanding and treatment of uric acid nephrolithiasis.
