Creativity has become one of the core competencies for nursing students. Staff nurses apply creative thinking, engage in quality improvement projects and creative works development, which could not only solve the problems in clinical practice, but also enhance patients’ comfort and satisfaction. However, the majority of nursing teachers have not received any training in creativity thinking teaching, and how to cultivate nursing students' creativity and practical skills through effective course and teaching are the trend for nursing educators’ efforts. This article introduces innovative teaching methods, explaining how creative thinking teaching methods were applied to [Nursing Capstone Project] course for 2-year RN-BSN program. The authors summarize 12 steps of teaching process and introduce one creative works of students’ Comfortable Catheter Stickers, showing the clinical plight, motive and purpose of the design, creative ideas, designed content, and the analysis of feasibility. It is expected to interact with nursing colleagues to inspire more creative curriculum and works and to enhance the nursing students’ abilities of creative producing effectively. |
