To apply research results from the analyses of conversations in contact situations to conversation-based education, the results must be made into teaching materials first. The analyzed data are from the “Street Interviews with Japanese'' from 2011 to March, 2013, of the second-grade conversation curriculums. The research procedure began with analyzing the interview data of the past two years and then producing teaching materials using the analysis results. After the practices with the actual teaching materials, the 2013 interviews were conducted. After the interview data were analyzed and the results were applied, this study produced the teaching materials containing the parts including (1) “beginning & end'' and “expansion & transformation'' of speakers' verbal behaviors; and (2) listeners' “responses'' and “asking in reply''. This study aimed to improve the effects of the 2013 interviews through the practices using these teaching materials. The achievements of the prior practice with the teaching materials were obvious no matter from the aspect of the post-interview evaluation sheets or the questionnaires retrieved based on the 2013 interview results. Besides, all the students thought highly of the overall interview activity. |
