The purpose in this paper is to grasp the features of Japanese business communication by analyzing Business Japanese Proficiency Test(BJT), and to find out a good direction to instruct Japanese learner in Taiwan by examining their problems about BJT. After analyzing the content of BJT, 79 Japanese learners in Taiwan who had passed at least N2 level of JLPT are invited to answer BJT questions and to talk about their thinking of BJT. The results of analysis are summarized as follows: 1. The conversation scenes appeared within BJT can be classified into ''superiors' instructions, inter-company discussion, brief presentation, external arrangement, note greeting, organization visiting, subordinate reports, interview, inter-company chat, telephone correspondence, outside contact, information analysis'' with total of 12 types. 2. The scene of superiors' instructions and inter-company discussion has been frequently seen at the unit 1 and 2 of BJT, and the scene of information analysis can be found especially conspicuous in the unit 2, In addition, the details of the scene for supervisors' instruction have also been sorted out the expression characteristics of instruction requirements, instructions and instruction receipt. 3. Vocabularies of beginning and intermediate level are the ones with higher frequency appeared within BJT. 4. The learners are good at short listening comprehension questions attaching with photo and short reading comprehension questions, but not good at ''long listening comprehension questions'' and ''advanced grammar and vocabularies'' in BJT. 5. Even with higher level Japanese capabilities, the participants don't perform well on the understanding of the expression within BJT. 6. Advanced Japanese learners in Taiwan have been conscious of 6 common issues in BJT, such as Japanese politeness, business Japanese communication features, etc. |
