The final purpose of Japanese language education is to train cultural exchange capability of students. In Taiwan, Haruki Murakami is a very popular writer. And, his works should be read by the Japanese students. After students read Haruki Murakami's work, what kind of profit is obtained? I am interested in that as one of Japanese teachers. What is Haruki Murakami's cultural view? In this paper, Haruki Murakami's cultural view will be clarified by ''Sydney!'', and the suggestion to Japanese language education can be considered. Haruki Murakami covered 23 days of the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000. And “Sydney!'' is a summary of its contents. Why record of personal experiences of the Olympic Games were either in the name ''Sydney!''? ''Sydney!'' is divided into three parts: interview, diary, interview, but why Haruki Murakami only interviewed marathoner? In part of the diary, why the contents of the social circumstances of Sydney and the culture and history of Australia are more than sports? What is the cross-cultural view of Haruki Murakami? What is the Olympic view of Haruki Murakami? In this paper, I will clarify it in the text ''Sydney!'', and consider the implications for Japanese language education. |
