The purpose of this paper is aimed at studying the clearly and strongly visual elements hidden in the literature of Mizuru Nisikawa by surveying the color words used in his novels. The study result shows that the appearance frequency of color words in his novels is very high and the color category is very rich. As same as the other writers at the same time period, he used white-color words most frequently compared to six other colors including red, yellow, cyan, black, gold, and sliver. However, he preferred strongly shining gold and silver colors. Moreover, it is found from the further analysis that the colors including cyan, gentian and peacock are uniquely used by Mizuru Nisikawa, and the fundamental colors such as amber, flax, rose, earth and egg frequently appears in his novels. Accordingly, his literature is full of color variety. |
