The study was designed to examine the Internet use of Taiwan journalists from the perspective of diffusion of innovations. Using random sampling, a nationwide survey of journalists was conducted in 1994 and again in 2004. The results of the study showed that the Internet use of Taiwan journalists rose from 30% in 1994 to 93% in 2004. In 1994, keying news stories and collecting information for personal use were the primary reasons journalists used a computer. In 2004, searching for news related information and using online databases were the major reasons to use computer. Further, the results of the study indicate that relative advantage is the significant factor that determines the use of computer and the Internet. |
