Taking twenty-five years for its fulfillment; the series of Mount Qilai stands as Yang Mu’s prosaic representative. This paper identifies Yang Mu’s series of Mount Qilai as narratives of time and, on this foundation, demonstrates his artistic expressions of rendering, connection, and random deployment upon the subject of time. This paper first points out that, because Yang Mu is adroit at capturing auras, Yang Mu settles time down and reveals the in-between glory so as to maintain everything’s authenticity and persistence. The glory yet should never remain punctate and isolated since the aura of every moment paradoxically grows into continuous independence. Moreover, through re-selection, re-analogy, and re-symbolization of the events does Yang Mu also give rise to a massive metaphor that consummates the meanings of time. This paper then concludes with the eternity, cyclicality, and overlapping narrative aesthetics of Yang Mu, whereby the existence of the aura is prolonged at every moment. While maneuvering theorein (speculate) to extend life perception, Yang Mu also promotes the significance of time in itself. That is to say, the series of Mount Qilai touches on not only auras, the persistence of time, and the formation of meanings, but the creation and re-beginning of time. |
