The rise of Low Cost Carrier (LCC) business model has caused impacts on traditional airlines industry and airports as well. In response to this impact, Taiwan has established the first low-cost airline of nationality in 2014 and also opened up for low-cost airlines to open routes. With the growing number of LCC entering the market, the competition among airlines has become increasingly fierce. This also brings pressure for airliners for cost down and service innovation. For international airports, how to leverage the rise of LCC to attract passengers and enhance competition advantage has also become an important issue. For both airliners and airports, more detailed analysis of LCC data is essential for their policy making and operation decisions. In this context, this study attempted to analyze LCC operations in six major airports in Asia. Meanwhile, this study also provided a review of the LCC with the lion , s share in six airports for hoping insight the business model for leader LCC. Through this analysis, it is expected to provide preliminary operational information for airliners, government departments and research units as a basis for follow-up research. |
