For convenience of research, scholars often differentiate the Book of Songs studies in The Song Dynasty between 'to doubt the Preface to the Book of Songs' and ' to value the Preface to the Book of Songs.' - the best-known works in the former is Zhu Xi's Shi JiZhuan, while the latter are Lü Zuqian's Lushi jiashu dushiji and Yan Can's ShiQi. The Siku Quanshu Zongmu viewed ShiQi as a follower of Lushi jiashu dushiji, and pointed out that Lü Zuqian's and Yan Can's books are the best in the Song Dynasty. This paper 1) compares and analyzes the differences and similarities between Lushi jiashu dushiji and ShiQi, 2) interprets the impact that they had on the study of the Book of Songs, and 3) discusses the question of 'who is the best scholar of the Book of Songs in the Southern Song Dynasty.' |
