In response to the reform of the Special Education Curriculum Guideline, the K-12 Education Administration, Ministry of Education promoted the pilot school-based collaborative curriculum planning for the gifted students in 2017, gathering 67 selected primary and high schools as pilot schools to try new approaches in working with students with special needs. Based on the general guidelines on the 12-Year National Basic Education Curriculum Guidelines, Implementation of the Norms of Special Education Curriculum, and Special Education Guidance, the pilot schools, under the auspices of the 1 general convening university and 3 regional counseling universities, tried to carry out an effective collaborative process on aspects of organization for curriculum development, related administrative operations, teacher's professional community, curriculum adjustment in major area, and curriculum design in the area of special education. The questionnaire survey was also designed to understand the attitudes and needs of the teachers of each pilot school towards the new special education curriculum. The results offered by the pilot schools served as a reference for the upcoming 108th curriculum guideline. |
