A Primary Study on Party Membership of the Kuomintang in Taiwan:From the Party Workers’ Perspectives*

對政黨而言，黨員是相當重要的資產。政黨黨員協助政黨推動平時政務，也於選舉期間協助競選工作的推動，沒有黨員，政黨難以展現其存在性。是以，黨員的重要性，無庸置疑。本文藉由分析國民黨中央和地方黨部的深入訪談資料和調查資料，試圖探索誰是國民黨黨員？加入政黨的原因為何？國民黨黨員參與政黨活動的情形為何？根據分析資料顯示，過去十年來國民黨的黨員人數逐漸增加，展現國民黨在吸收支持者方面的動員能力。

By analyzing data from in-depth interviews with central and local party branches, as well as questionnaires directed at party workers, this article aims to examine who the party members of the Kuomintang (KMT) are. Why do they join the party? What is the level of involvement of themembers.
