This paper introduces a new spatial inferential tool, the maximum entropy method, to expand the application of spatial analysis with micro-level survey data. The most important attribute of the maximum entropy method is to measure the spatial information with sample location and environmental factors. Therefore, this study applies the maximum entropy method to measure the Taiwanese evaluation of society for East Asia, including Taiwan, Japan, Korea and China with the sample locations and environmental factors. The empirical results shown in this paper reveal that there are spatial heterogeneity and spatial clustering for the evaluation of society by the Taiwanes e people. The spatial distribution of the sociotropic evaluation is higher in western regions of Taiwan than eastern regions. Finally, the contribution of environmental factors from high to low are the population, the social-economic development level, indigenous areas, the presidential election vote rate of the KMT and DPP in 2008 and the illiteracy rate. |
