This study empirically examines the impact of housing prices on entrepreneurial activities in Taiwan. While previous studies focused on the positive impact of housing prices on economic growth, lately some scholars have started to point out the possible negative impact of high housing prices on entrepreneurial activities. We utilize a panel dataset consisting of 22 counties and cities in Taiwan from 2002 to 2015 as well as an individual-level longitudinal dataset, and examine the impact of housing prices on entrepreneurial activities in Taiwan. The empirical strategies include fixed effect models, random effect models, and logit models. The findings of this study provide evaluations of the impact of housing market activities on the economy from a different angle. |
