The current Muslim world population is over 1.6 billion. Up to 260,000 Muslims living in Taiwan due to work or marriage, but Taiwanese society seems to lack understanding and interest in the Muslim world. This paper attempts to examine college students' understanding and acceptance of Muslim culture through the relevant courses of general education curriculum at the university. The conclusions are: Taiwanese college students lack interest of understanding Muslim world. They also have a considerable degree of stereotypes on them. However, compared with the Western Christian world students, Taiwanese students do not have Muslim phobia. If teachers can implement relevant courses in the classroom and clarify various misunderstandings to Muslim cultures. It will be help to promote Taiwanese college students' understanding of the Muslim world and enhance their multicultural literacy skills. |
