It is significant difference between adenocarcinoma (15-25%) and squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix, because the prognosis of adenocarcinoma seems to be worse compared to that of squamous cell carcinoma. Adenocarcinoma of the cervix is associated with high frequency of lymph node metastases, contributing to the shorter progression free survival and lower 5-year survival rate. The current case report shows a 59-year woman with FIGO stage IB1 adenocarcinoma of the cervix who was treated with radical hysterectomy and the patient was alive without disease. Based on the current report, the management and outcome of the adenocarcinoma of the cervix has been extensively reviewed. |
