This paper firstly indicates that the emergence of applying drama as pedagogy in the field of Chinese language education is the result of relational alteration in the fields of politics, economy, society and education in Singapore. The frequent mother tongue reforms facilitate the pedagogical significance of applying drama in education. Secondly, this paper reports on the expected role of drama as pedagogy in the field of Singapore Chinese language education through reviewing the literature and governmental documents. Thirdly, this paper introduces the case of Singapore Centre for Chinese Language including the development of teacher training, classroom research and publications. Finally, this paper points out the potential challenges of applying drama as a pedagogical tool in the field of Chinese language education in Singapore. |
