This case report described the intensive care nursing experience of a depressed patient with right facial burn caused by charcoal-burning suicide following taking hypnotics. The caring period was from February 28, 2010 to April 28, 2010. The Gordon’s functional health assessment guide was used to assess nursing problems through observation, interview, physical examination, and chart review. The nursing problems identified included breathing pattern, ineffective, disturbance body image, and risk for suicide. Intensive care interventions included monitoring oximeter and arranging breathing exercise, providing support and companionship and active caring, encouraging to express perception of appearance, leading positive emotional express, and enhancing recognition of value of life. This experience provided nurses with a reference for caring similar patients in the future. |
