It is not easy to raise athletes; however, many outstanding student athletes quit when they still have the ability. Is it because they are not hard enough or limited by social conditions? The purpose of this study is to explore the factors of outstanding student athletes' intention to dropout from sports. A total of 20 outstanding student athletes in high school and university were interviewed. The results showed that outstanding student athletes had economic issues, employment opportunities, and other expectations of society as well as physical and psychological factors such as physical injuries, energy bottlenecks, academic stress, lack of freedom, physical and mental fatigue, loss of motivation, and adaptation to education. These issues and factors forced them to dropout from sports, so that there is a lack of conditions for the social structure of the outstanding student athletes with intention to dropout from the sport. |
