The career decision making behavior intentions of nursing undergraduate students is imperative because of the sluggish career development phenomenon of college students and the unreasonable workplace of nursing staff in Taiwan. Based on the theory of planned behavior, the purpose of this research was to develop and test the nursing undergraduate studentsÕ career decision making behavior intention instrument. The semi-structured questionnaire was evaluated for its content validity by the experts. Factor analysis was used to evaluate the construction validity of the questionnaire. A total of 128 participants from full-time nursing undergraduate students were recruited for survey. The effective response rate was 71%. After reviewed by the construct validity, the variables included in the instrument included nursing undergraduate students in career decision behavior intention, behavioral attitudes, behaviors subjective norms, the perceived behavior control, personal factors, and organizational factors. A total of 58 questions explained 53.72 to 70.99% of the variance.The reliability analysis by CronbachÕs alpha was 0.92. Results indicated that the nursing undergraduate studentsÕ career decision making behavior intention instrument provides good reliability and validity. The instrument may be employed to measure career decision making behavior intention in nursing undergraduate students. |
