Nurses have an unique role in the health care system, providing holistic care for patients. In their constantly changing and diversifying work contexts, nurses increasingly need to use creative thinking skills and interdisciplinary learning abilities. This article discussed the current status and future direction of interdisciplinary learning and creativity development in nursing education. We discovered that creative nursing projects are mostly an elective course in nursing education. To promote the creative thinking of nursing students and thus increase their ability to creatively overcome and solve challenges, a required course could be designed that is based on teamwork and interdisciplinary learning. The course can inspire students to develop constructive and useful ideas for solving problems that arise during clinical observation. In the future, instruments with satisfactory psychometric properties can be developed to measure the effectiveness of creative thinking education in nursing courses. |
