This article discussed the experience of hospice care for a young man with cardiopulmonary resuscitation in the ICU. The hospice care also extended to his father who had anticipatory grief related to facing the death of his son. The nursing period was form January 9 to 17, 2018. After evaluation, the nursing problems were determined as: edema, impaired skin integrity, anticipatory grief with father. During the nursing care, the author built trust with his father and used to religion to relieve his father's anticipatory grief related to facing the death of his son. The nursing experience not only included care for the patient but also extended it to his family. By sharing this experience, we hope ICU nurses can appreciate the unique role they can play to enhance the quality of care to the patients and their family members. |
