本研究之主要目的係探討我國兒童在數目、方向、運動等概念的發展情形。受試兒童係從國小一年級到五年級的兒童，每一學年20名，共100名。以個別方式實施之。結果發現，數目，方向，移動等概念的發展，均跟著年齡的生長而有增加的趨勢。這些概念能力的獲得和學業成就有很密切的關係。同時本研究也支持了piaget的理論，6,7歲是從操作前期轉入具體操作期的過渡年齡。
