In this experiment twelve species of ground cover plants were grown in a designed experimental plot, In order to find out shade-tolerant of shade-loving of plants. From the present experimental data, these ground cover plants have been classified into four groups as follows: 1. High-grade sun-loving plants, Such as Tifton 328 Bermudagrass, Manila grass and st. Augastingrass, Cannot grow at all in the slight shade. 2. Sun-loving plants, such as Kentucky 31 fescus and orchard grass can grow in the slight shade. 3. Slight-shade-loving plants as Dichondra repens, Dichondra micranta, Ranunclus repens, Sedum makinoi and Sedum lineare, Cannot grow in the dense shade. 4. Slight-shade-loving plants as Japanese spurge and Reinekia carnea, Besides the above mentioned four groups of plants, we may expect one more group namely ”Dense-shade-loving-plants”, which more will be mentioned in our later publication. |
