香水蘭（Vanilla）之繁殖試驗

Propagation Trials of Vanilla

香水蘭為重要之香料作物，栽培最廣之經濟品種為Vanilla planifolia Andrew.臺灣在光復前會引入試植，山地並有Vanilla屬之野生種類。故知此一植物，在本省南部當能適應，可望發展為園藝工業植物，因此先作繁殖試驗。試驗分扦插繁殖，插床及插穗處理及播種繁殖三大部份，於民國五十二年至五十五年間在中與大學園藝系進行，所得結果大要於次：1.香水蘭行扦插繁殖其插穗以二節二葉為佳。2.插床媒質以蛇木屑與水苔各半混合者，較適合插穗之萌芽與生長。3.插穗之採取，以蔓莖之中段部較上下部為佳。4.播種用培養基，以含有香水蘭植株部分與培養土煮沸濾液者較能提高種子之發芽率，含有蜂蜜與Tryptone之培養基，則有促進幼苗發育之效。5.用50%酒精處理香水蘭堅韌之種皮二分種，有促進發芽之效果。

1. The best cuttings for vanilla propagation were those with two nodes and two leaves. 2. The best cutting medium was a mixture made of equal parts of tree-fern stem fiber and sphagnum moss. 3. The best cuttings sere taken from the middle portion of the stem of Vanilla plants. 4. The best medium for seed germination was found containing the boiled extract of Vanilla plant with its compost soil, which might somewhat raise the germination percentage. And those mediums containing honey and tryptone were effective in hastening seedling growth. 5. Soaking vanilla seeds with 50% ethyl alcohol for two minutes was effective in hastening germination.
