Flushes of Lomitzu lychee occurred after fall usually fail to developed inflorescence. The later the flush occurred the less the inflorescences developed. In this experiment, it was found the removal of the new growth in 30 November 1978 showed accelerating the bursting of the lateral buds under the removed growth when their young leaves still was in pink, and 88.3 % of the topped shoots developed inflorescences from the lateral buds, and it was 55.9 % inflorescence as compared with the new growths for check. While the removal of new growths were carried out in 22 December 1978, there were 0~32.4% of the topped shoots developed inflorescences depending on the nutritional status of the topped shoots; It showed that the stronger the topped shoots, the higher development percent of the inflorescences. |
