Nutrient status of mango leaves taken from orchards in Tainan and other areas were investigated. Results indicated that the values of the five microelements were comparable with those prepared from Florida mango; the tentative U. S. standard. The nitrogen and the potassium concentrations were however higher and the calcium level slightly lower than the above mentioned standard. With respect to manganese and copper, no comparison could be made due to chemical contaminations. The manganese were found severely contaminated and so was copper to a lower degree. Under the present condition, with no other suitable criteria to follow, it is pratical to adopt the U. S. standard as a working parameter for the evaluation of mango nutrition in Taiwan. |
