Five-year-old 'Chung-San Monthly' guava plants were sprayed with Ethrel and urea at 2 different concentrations to regulate the production period. The chemicals were treated on 8 different dates during a 2-year period. Treatment of 25% urea caused 78% of defoliation, severe twig damage and serious die-back of new shoots. Among the 6 treatment, Ethrel at 0.2% concentration is recommended due to less damage to the plants and higher yields. Concerning the fruit quality, there was no significant difference among various treatments. |
