The effects of holding posture on eggplant and water convolvulus were examined. Reversal holding storage of eggplant fruits had both higher rates of respiration and ethylene evolution than the laying storage. The respiration rate of water convolvulus decreased during the first 3 days then increased gradually and accompanied by yellowing of the leaves. Higher respiration rate was observed in horizontally stored water convolvulus than in vertically stored ones. The ethylene evolution rates decreased during first 2 days then increased drastically before the yellowing of the leaves. The bending of the stems as a result of horizontal storage, might be caused by the anti-geotropism. |
